Instead of hours of trial and error sifting through YouTube, i was hoping some of you had some links to quality, informative videos on freehand convex sharpening on a bench stone.

Please, NO "just use sandpaper on a mouse pad" responses. I want to learn to do this on a stone.

Thx.

Here are two done on one of my Washboards. It is sandpaper, but far more line a stone than wet/dry over a mouse pad or anything else for that matter. The first is a Fiskars X7 and the second is a Bark River Necker.

Is easier than you think, but getting it looking nice cosmetically right off the stone will take a soft touch and abitity to roll it through a tight range of motion to blend the facets. If done well, a few passes on a hard strop will blend it all together nicely.

The key is to work it well just behind the cutting edge after grinding off the shoulder and working it back into the primary. Every time you touch it up it is important to hit it good right behind the edge to keep the geometry aggressive.

Finally got some time to sit and watch some of these. So far just going down the list. Finished Jason's. Heavy's are next.

These are exactly what i needed. Just wanted to say thanks.

PS: Now i suddenly want to get some waterstones. My interest in them was ZERO before. Strange . . .

Have a feeling there will be a waterstone recommendation thread soon.
