Yet another video review of two great knives. I liked my Bark River Bravo 1 in A2 carbon so much I bought the stainless version due to wet weather where I am (carbon steel is very prone to rust in my experience in our weather).

I also got a hold of an Fallkniven S1 which is about the same weight but slightly longer blade than the Bravo 1. In this review I take these knives out into the rain, sleet and snow to test them out:

Enjoy!

Very cool review. I think some of the best reviews are the ones that actually go out there and show some action and use with the blades. As opposed to the reviews that simply go over specs, and end with "I actually haven't used the blade yet..."

Good job! I think i'm going to have to add the S1 to my wish-list.

This is exactly the kind of review I want to see.

I've seen numerous table tops describing how it feels but we all know the feeling of excitement that overruns your opinions. User videos, a little about personal philosophy and no-nonsense.

Thank you for making videos!

So having spent most of the time more or less soaked, which knife came out with the most corrosion? Or were they both spotless?

The only rust stains I saw on the Bark River Bravo 1 SS was from sheath itself. The screws holding the Kydex belt loop onto the main sheath had some rust and this staining got onto the blade. I will be swapping out those screws with stainless versions.

On the S1 I thought that one spot was definitely a rust stain. But it wiped off pretty easily with no residual mark. It probably was nothing. I will take it out again in the rain again some day and retry things.

But there is no question that had those knives have been carbon they would have both been rusting in the morning. Even if I had dried them off as best I could, the humidity/condensation/cold would have brought the water back onto the blades again in short order. It's almost impossible to keep gear dry in those conditions.

The S1 is a nice larger blade knife. I still prefer the F1 over it, but if you want a larger blade it has a good balance to it. Plus, many people prefer the clip point over the F1's drop point blade style.

Maybe Fallkniven can release a F1 sized blade in a clip point? Might be a decent offering to round out the A2, A1 and S1 lines.
