I reviewed a Fallkniven H1 with some comparisons to the F1 version of the knife.

This knife features a very prominent belly over the F1. There is really no flat part of the blade as it has a continuous curve. This is probably good for a skinning knife, but it didn't handle as well for me for more mundane carving tasks vs. the F1. The blade is also quite thick which may or may not be your cup of tea depending on personal preference. I did however like the more rounded handle of this knife vs. the F1. The profile seemed to fit my hand very well. Overall, like all Fallkniven blades, it was very functional and sharp out of the box. It also held a very good edge when I was using it. If you want a thicker blade with a more traditional skinner design it may be your ticket:

Nice reviews of the Fallknivens, Craig. Off topic, what rain jacket are you wearing in this video?

I was wearing Helly Hansen Impertech. It is cheap, durable and 100% waterproof no matter what. It is a rubberized fabric. But unlike almost all breathable materials I've ever used, it will never wet out no matter how bad the rain is.

Awesome. Where did you get it? Are they roomy? I'm 5'9", 190, and would wear stuff under it. Thanks! Steve

Buy from who's cheaper. I don't really run that store to make money. It's mainly a list of gear I use and like as a reference to people watching my videos.

I just got an H1 and am concerned that the lack of a guard could cause my hand to slip down on the blade. did you have an issue with that?

It doesn't have a guard, but this mirrors more of the traditional Scandinavian knife designs I've seen. I haven't had a problem with it personally. The rounded grip makes it easier to hold in different positions. But yes, it requires more caution when using it. However I've never found a guard to be really beneficial to how I use knives unless I wanted to stab things which I don't normally need to do.
