with Kelly Worden. Available through Paladin Press, alternate review at MAVR. This 2 volume set (90 min each) covers the 6 ways of attack from Jeet Kune Do as interpreted by Kelly Worden.
Tape 1 BD
Single Direct Attack/SDA
Attack By Drawing/ABD
Attack By Immobilization/ABI
Tape 2 BD
Attack By Immobilization/ABI Cont.
Attack By Combination/ABC
Progressive Indirect Attack/PIA
Each section concerned dealing with punches, kicks, grabs with tape 2 taking it further
by progressing into entries, takedowns, follow ups, and multiple attackers. SDA was a virtual clinic on using the lead leg kick in combination or with footwork, a fair amount of partner and focus mitt drills on kicking and lead hand strikes.
ABD was more of my interest, covering FMA material and the relation of staff to the empty hand. ABI Pt. 1 used single and double stick drills, the Swinging Gate Drill, the Lop Sau drill, and Worden's Silent Fighter trainer to illustrate techniques, covering a lot more entries, followups, and introduced the need for evasive skills. Pt. 2 covered the FMA skill of pickups, riding energy, Jun Fan style trapping, and base destruction. Worden also introduces an empty hand sequence/form on the Silent Fighter, which I didn't really like but it has its' place.
Multiple opponents and distractions are covered in PIA and there's a glimpse of Worden's Sambo experience and his opinion on ground grappling in the street. In ABC, Worden introduces an empty hand sequence/form on the Silent Fighter, which I didn't really like but it has its' place. Following up with bong sau applications and more on the Swinging Gate Drill.
JKD, WC, Silat, FMA folks will get the stuff immediately, not too much for the pure grappler. Production quality and sound were great and there was a definite similarity to Blauer, Hochheim, D. James, and ROSS material.
I particularly like ABD and most of ABI. This isn't for beginners but really for intermediate folks or those who need some methodology ot their training. Interestingly, you see women and kids do some of the material and there is the infamous Worden sense of humor. Some might feel the trapping is too intensive, personally I see it done with an attitude and a manner that's not too complex. Stomping and joint lock fans will like tape 2 particularly.
