Thanks to bladeforums for this idea. I think it's going to work out nicely. I really like my Spyderco Persistence, and when Spyderco said they didn't carry a black clip for it, I was a little heartbroken. If the shrink wrap doesn't hold up for very long I guess I get to go shopping for more knives.:D

I didn't think it would look that good, but in the end it actually came out really nice. Did the mod affect the strength with which the clip holds on the pocket?

Another great idea my kershaw scallion will have that done tonight just happen to sell shrink tube at work thanks .

I have tried this and have found that you end up replacing the shrink tubing quite often.

Nice idea, but I think it'll wear quite quickly. I use this stuff a lot for building batteries and stuff and I find that it isn't great for applications where it will get worn a lot (like on your pocket).

Why don't you just anodize it or something? I usually bring all kinds of metal stuff to my local industrial-metal-coloring shop. So, a handful of items like belt-clips or whatever is like 10 USD or something, plus you're getting the same quality and finish as you would get from Spyderco or whoever. I once had a bag of stuff and it was like 50 USD to get it all anodized. Another great method is powder-painting stuff, but that messes up heat treats, so no blades. Duracoat would be a even more simple solution.

Here is an update to the clip mod....
