I watched this video and thought the guy made a lot of really good points. Check it out if you haven't already. It's educational, watch it.

Unerstanding it leads to really appreciating it. I like everything this guy has to say about Emersons. Like there being a reason for the blades to remain the same thickness across all the models. He just makes some good points.

He really does.^
It's important for a maker to explain WHY he does things the way he does them.
Other good examples of this are, Mick Strider, Phill Hartsfield, Bud Nealy and Daniel Fairly.

My knife world horizons aren't that broad yet but I'll be sure to look into these guys as well soon enough. I'm still all Emerson.

Good news, too. Remember that forest green Specwar I thought I was getting? I'm still not getting it but I am getting the exact same thing in Afghan Tan! Specwar A SF Afghan Tan. I just checked the tracking number and it's been processed through Jersey City, NJ. It wont be long now.

You said good things would happen and to stay on the hunt and sure enough, $75.00 cheaper and I have the same thing on the way only in tan. Which is cool to me.

Pics soon!

Just watched the video, and IMHO it OK, just OK. He's not exactly correct on some of his points and assertions, but he gets the general gist of Emersons. To me, he left out the most import Emerson trait - SUPERB ergonomics. I don't know how one can try to describe an Emerson knife without marveling at the grip's ergos. Also, being impervious to salt water is to me worth mentioning, as well as the "functionality" aspect that does allow some aesthetic imperfections but zero functional deficiencies.

I agree. That's the #1 thing that gets me about Emerson. Throughout so many varying designs they all feel "right" in hand.

And I agree. ^
Congratz, newknif. I love that Tan.
And, my world of experience with knives lead me back, to stay, with Emerson knives.

You are so right. Nice one. I guess this guy didn't factor everything in. Now you have me thinking about what else he may have left out.

This has nothing to do with functionality but I do appreciate the history and story behind this brand as well.
