Nothing happened. In fact the next time I pounded it in about a half inch further and hung on it... I almost pulled the vice off the table but could not break the maple or bend the knife... I was blown away... This knife surpassed anything I expected...
 
these videos are fun to make and we look forward to making many more for the knives that are still yet to come!!!
