Unfortunately we won't be at Blade this year to share the wonder that is Vegemite with you all again. Some, perhaps most, will be glad about that :D

Here are some of the highlights of some of the Vegemite virgins at Jocks & Jills. Hope you all have a great time this year!

Vegemite?! Mothers milk! Vegemite & toast and a short black and your ready to rock :cool:
 
It reminded me of something we eat around here but I still can't put my finger on it. Green Boiled peanuts was the first thing that came to mind.
 
I like it, but again... I was raised on the stuff and currently have 3 jars in the cupboard at the moment!

Some of my favorite memories in High School are from watching my buddies try it for the first time because of the song "I Come From The Land Down Under"... They wanted to try a spoonful...

never eat the vegemite. The Australian EOD guys use to try and get me to eat it all the time. I did once and went to spit it out, he yelled at me. "Hey my wife made that you better not waste it" it was pretty funny stuff.
 
Vegemite= hurl-a-licious:barf:...... An "acquired" taste.... I'll tell you what though. I'd have it again if it meant that I could be at Blade:)
 
How could I ignore this thread.
Vegemite is a national dish, along with Dngo Dongers,Krumbed Koala, Witchetty Grubs and Wallaby Whangers.

I've had the crumbed Koala, too hairy for me...... The Grubs, I'll leave to you.... No matter how much protein they possess....I'd rather have Vegemite....:D
 
Witchetty grubs are actually quite palatable when cooked--taste a bit like scrambled eggs.
I've never been game to try them raw.
BTW, you're supposed to skin the Koala before adding the Krumbs!
