Here's a look at the SwissChamp. It was a gift given of friendship over 10 years ago.

Nice video. I have a Swisschamp (and a Leatherman Charge ALX) too. Withe the exception of the pliers the tools of the SwissChamp work much better for me. I carry it every day at my belt or in my pocket.

Kind regarrds,

For many years, a Swisschamp was my only SAK. At the time, I cared little about SAKs or pocketknives in general, but just wanted a compact "toolbox" to have with me at all times. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to carry a one bladed folder when in the same unit you could also have a bunch of useful tools.

The Swisschamp was an upgrade from an earlier SAK (don't remember the model) that had also been just fine. Had it not been stolen, it might still have been my sole knifely EDC. When I replaced it, though, I figured why not fully embrace the multi-tool concept and have it all. Carried on my belt in a Vic nylon sheath, the weight and bulk didn't bother me in the least. Over time, I managed to use every implement except the small back-spring mounted flat head screwdriver and was completely happy with the arrangement.

In time, when looking to replace a worn out sheath, I found one packaged with a Tinker at a price only a couple of dollars more than either alone. Eventually, I learned that in its minimalist way, the Tinker was one sweet little Vic. So now I was a double-SAKer and soon on that slippery slope. It didn't take long before a Rambler joined the collection, then an OH Trekker, and any forumer knows the rest of this story :D .

Nowadays, my EDC rotates, but I still think of the Swisschamp as my "default" SAK. IMHO, it has the best utility/portability balance of them all.
