I was just on the Knife Center of the Internet and saw this beautiful new blade released by CRKT. It is the News section at www.knifecenter.com. Check it out.

You can tell a knife nut by their hairless arms....

That's tight as a light! Thanks for informing me/us of the knife.

RE: CRKT Viele Wasp

Oh my...Oh my...

If it looks half as good as it does in the picture...oh my...I'm speechless...

That's G-10? That's not the plain black G-10 that I've come to know...oh my...

I hope it is in their higher end line of knives and uses either ATS-34, or their proprietary ACUTO 440.

What else is there to say, except, "oh my..."

The knife looks nice but the pocket clip looks like an afterthought. Skinny looking thing and placement looks off.

Looks more like a Tom Anderson collaboration!
Are you sure it's Viele?

Brigadier,
It looks like a Tom Anderson knife, because Tom Anderson's knives look like Howard Viele. I was told that Tom Anderson trained under Howard Viele. Anderson's techers influence really shows.

Hope this clears things up for you.

I can't wait to get one of these!

I think this is a great looking knife. It reminds me alot of the Spyderco Viele model which is pretty sweet also. The one thing I don't like is thye placement of the thumb stud. It gets in the way of about 1/2 or 1/3 of an inch of cutting edge. They could have moved the logo further forward on the blade and placed the stud closer to the handle. I guess this isn't too bad though. The Klotzli Wimpf folders have similar stud placement as well as Cold Steel Voyagers.

i recently had a chance to handle BOTH knives (nya nya) and i can definitly see the spydi in my future. the crkt's thumbstud is a little low for my liking, but thats about the only reason i prefer one over the other.

in my not so humble opinion both knives are very high quality and worth the money.im looking at the all serrated version (i was thinking ewww at first, but it's growing on me)i first saw it in knives plus magazine, but got to handle it at ag russell's showroom. the crkt wasp surprised me,really.i saw pics of it on the net,and my initial reaction was "what a flimsy clip".NO.i got to hold this knife, and that clip is anything but flimsy.very tight,i dont think there would be any retention problems with this one.

buy em both if you can afford em.im getting the spydie version first, though.

The CRKT WASP is a Howard Viele design.

Ladies and gentlemen - please note that this is entirely Howard Viele's design. He is a 27 year veteran and master knife maker. I have only been making knives for 4 years and, like so many other "young" knifemakers, have adopted characteristics of several makers who are already established.

Hopefully, any comments regarding similarities between my knives and that of a true master will be taken innocently as I am certain no malice was intended.
