tell me more about this knife.

how sturdy is the lock?

how does it handle?

the pros the cons etc. etc.

it looks like a very interesting piece and am about to buy it; but, I would like to hear the opinions.

No offense but you might try the search button first.
And visit the Spyderco website forum.

I don't wan't to be rude but this forum is not an information desk where you can pop questions and expect people to give you loads of detailed information in their spare time.

If you can narrow your questions down people will help you with your problem but you should be able to get most of your questions answered in the search mode.

ps it's a great knife:)

no it's not rude; but, i've only had a few answers on another post and have tried the search function for viele and most of it is about the first viele not the second. i'm really curious as to if most carry w/ clip or clipless. lastly, I was curious as to how smooth the g10 was because I know the micarta side is probably slick as hell.

I like the Viele II a lot. It's very smooth, well made, and interestingly constructed. The lock is fine. Mine never failed. It's great for delicate work (i.e., pretty much anything a pocket knife is good for). Handle's a little small, but it carries well, and again, is good for light work. The G-10 side is textured about like every other Spyderco G-10 (like the Military, Para, etc.)

Don't worry about it, man. Making a thread like this does no harm to anybody, and as soon as someone who owns the knife sees the thread, they will be more than happy to go on about how much they do or don't like the knife for you.

I don't own it myself, but I don't like it because the different scales are ugly to me, and I don't care for liner locks or hollow grinds.

Viele II is very solid and well built. The G10 has good grip, like other Spyders as mentioned. Mine's got good lockup and very smooth opening. Whether or not the aesthetics please you is your own call, but the quality, F&F, etc., are all excellent.

I have the Viele 2 and it is an extremely good looking; smooth functioning; razor sharp with very solid lockup knife.

I would not hesitate to purchase another.

boogeyman, I do not own the knife, so I cannot offer any info on it. I did want to say though, that I feel these forums are for exactly what you are doing. If you have done a search and did not find what you wanted, then ask away. If someone does not like what you asked, then they can just ignore the post. Pretty simple. You might try looking over at the Spyderco forums also (http://spyderco.com/forums/index.php?).

Its a smooth as silk knife as far as the opening and closing of the blade. I had one and converted it to tip up carry and then sold it. Its one of those I wish I'd kept now. The blade is the best part about it. I really like that blade on it. Great all around user.

I didn't much care for the Micarta side. In fact if I'd have kept it that was going to be replaced with another side of G10 in its place. I didn't really mind it until I converted the knife to tip up carry though. Thats when I noticed how slick it was. Actually looking back I'd have done the clip differently now too. That was a clip I'd made for another knife and then used on the the Viele in a pinch. Its really a bit big for that knife but it worked.

I recommend the knife though. Its one of the Spyderco sweethearts that doesn't get the attention it should..

Assuming you are right handed, the Viele II is an extremely well built little knife. For fit and finish it has to rate well up in the top ten ever from Spyderco. The only "con" would be that some folks don't find a knife where the two side look completely different from each other attractive.

I agree in the fact that I'm not crazy about the Micarta/G-10 mix. I really like Black linen micarta and probably, subconsciously appreciate symmetry in the world. Do you think that it was done like this to give it a very unique look or to keep the thickness down?
