Anybody own, or have thoughts on the new Viele Wasp by CRKT? Thinking of getting one, but I thought I'd see if anyone had one already, and could give me an opinion...

I handled the prototype version in August of 2000. It was supposed to be made on the actual production tooling. It was very smooth in its operation. I haven't handled the production version yet. If the production versions are similar to the prototype, the knife will be the finest knife produced by CRKT so far.

yes,its very smooth in operation, but the edges are a little sharp on the back end of the knife.
that was the only problem i could find with the one i got to play with.overall its a good knife, you wont be dissapointed.

I think it is a nice knife in handling them with one glaring flaw.

What in tarnation is that thumbstud doing there? That's just wrong. The opening arc is too big. The stud interferes tremendously with cutting and sharpening.

Post mega-whoops is all I can say.

Mike Payne of Knives & Things just got the Viele Wasp in. He has the 8001, 8002 and 8011 models in stock. Give him a call at (90)340-1973. He said that he doesn't have very many.
