Hi Spark.

I used to view 40 messages per page, and for the past few months, say since May or June, I've noticed that I can't change this back. I've tried deleting all my cookies from both IE and Netscape, but to no prevail. I've done this and tried toggling the setting back and forth, but it's as if I can't change my settings. I've noticed the same exact behavior on another forum that uses the same software. Any ideas?

Doesn't work for me either. Strange that the default setting is 25 since there is no way to choose 25 as the number of views you would like to see.

Maybe the forum default is 25, but I can't tell. It doesn't matter if I choose forum default, 5 or 40 posts per page, what I get is 25. Not that it really matters to me, I am just saying that that feature doesn't seem to work.

Edited to add:

I see my problem, the selection is only for views on an individual thread, not on the main topics pages.

All I ever get is 25 , regardless of if I use the forum default or not. I think it's a "characteristic" of this version of the software. Another site that I frequent running the same version does the same thing.

Hank, what you get when you make this selection is only for the number of posts per thread. I do not think there is any way to pick the number of threads that appear on a page when scanning the topics pages.

Lets say you click on the Gallery Forum. The topics page that appears will always have 25 threads. When you click on one of those threads then you will see the number of posts (5, 10, 20, 30 or 40) that you have chosen in the option Default Posts per Thread:

Hopefully that was helpful.

Keith, you're right. This must have been linked to the topics per page in previous versions since it would change from 25 or so to 40. I usually search by new topics throughout all the forums and switching to 40 let me page through quicker than with 25. Taking this away probably helped improve the search performance. Oh well, it answers my question. Another undocumented feature was what I was using, and it went by the wayside!
