This is the first axe I design and make.
As you can se it a sort of one hand Viking axe and I like the lines in the axe and the lines of the handle.

It works nice and the balance is good.

What do you think about this axe?

Length 26 cm (handle and axehead)
Length axehead: 14,5 cm
Edge: 9,5 cm
Weight 0,55 kilo

Nice work. That's a mean-looking tool you made. Looks like it will fly pretty good. What did you use for the handle?

Hi Redvenom
Yes, it fly nicly. I target throw it from 15 meters.
I do not knew the name of the wood in English, sorry. I shall try to find out the name. In Swedish: Bok.
The wood have small dark (,) signs in the wood. The bark is grey, it is a very good looking tree during the spring with a special light green color, can this help you?

very sweet looking axe i'll have a set of three:D :D :D

Yes just in case I miss :D :D :D

EdgePal I don't know what you do with yours but I get great pleasure in target throwing my hawks as a keeper of a shoot I have spent many a happy hour chucking my hawks into a tree round or targeting points on fallen trees.
One of my sons has taken to pinning paper airgun targets to the tree and trying to score on hits in the rings.
Keeps him out of my hair but good fun so I always end up doing the same:D

Hi Norca,
This axe I make to show my sharpening system and what the system can do, one side have a straight edge, the other side has a convex edge. I show how easy it is to sharpen both types of edges. The axe is small and nice to transport and it is nice looking and that is also nice on a Fair or exhibition.

I have use it for target throwing, and it perform nice.

I have made some other axes, just for target throwing, 1, is 450 gram, the handle is in birch. 2, is 550 gram, the hande is in glassfiber. I throw them from 15 meters today with good precision, and try to practice from larger distances then that, step by step.

Axe throwing is fun. When I have some technical problems to solve, I go out in the garden, on the backside of our house, and start throwing the axe. I have made a target for axes, a section from a tree, and I walk 30 meter for every throwing, The brain is working with the problem and the body is throwing axes and the combination is nice.

This is a picture of the two axes I made specially for throwing.

I also work with a new axe. This work is in progress and I do not knew when I have time to finish it yet. Sometimes this year…I think..

It is my own design, type Viking axe as you can see.
I have make “strips” with brass and copper in the axe head and shall do some more of that and also try to do a pattern in that way. Also some engravings shall be done at the blade.
The handle shall be in layers wood and horn and the horn shall also be engraved.

This axe is designed to be a nice looking axe, not for heavy work, just to show because it is nice (I hope it will be).

What do you think about it, so far?

Hi Thomas aka EdgePal what ever you do to this i'm sure it will look good
I just love the shape i've allways liked a hammer poll on axe's and hawks
And just love that shape yes i'll have one if you ever sell them :D
your picture is fantastic and i've pasted it in my picture file
Here in England axe throwing or collecting is unheard off but when my freinds have a go they think its great fun
But they all think i'm a bit strange anyway
keep up the good work
