I really like the axes on the the TV series Vikings. Does anyone know who makes something similar that can be used.

H&B can probably make you one. They made me a Danish Mammen style Viking axe and it turned out great.

You know I think I saw one made by Legacy Arms called the viking axe. It was pretty darn close in my opinion, just the thickness might be off.

That looks good but I wanted a beard on the axe.

That is a beard. What you want is an axe with a jaw, often mistakenly called a beard. A beard points up away from the haft. A jaw turns back under the haft. But tell someone you want a jawed axe and they'll look at you strange and ask, "you mean a bearded axe?"

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

Just ask him - I had a similar leather wrapping and it hold up some time. The good thing is that - because of the nails - not the whole strap comes down if damaged.

Good that you mentioned that Square Peg. Even about 95% of the books incorrectly call a jawed axe a bearded axe. Very hard to convince folk of this fact though.

Blood eagle death? Nasty stuff there. I always thought it was a dagger or a sword they used though... :)

"I love all things Vikings!"

I married one. And yes, she is pretty hot, but has an unnatural attachment to her throwing axe. When I manage to get her mad at me, I always sleep very lightly! ;)

Right! I guess it's easier to separate the ribs with the axe...

My Grandmother is from Scandinavia! Maybe that's why I've always been fascinated with blades and axes LOL
