Took 'er in to work today... One seaman was almost in tears as he described the India model *he* owns but would never actually try to use, looking mournfully at a real khukuri for the first time.

One petty officer, a former Ranger, went nuts for a while and took down the company name for when he visits his girlfriend in Mobile (she has the computer).

Unable to resist, I whacked a piece of 7-ply oak faced cabinet plywood, attempting to flick the blade forward so the point entered first. If you want to thrust, try it this way, it takes timing but works just fine. Easy penetration. On the other hand, a normal thrust didn't go in nearly as far. Also made a gutting slice at a trash can, leaving a 5-inch gash (to my huge amusement).

The tree limbs you all know about, having done it yourselves.

It does help to keep a firm grip on the handle, as the khuk has a tendency to wander off, khlonking nearly everything in its path and cutting the tips of curious fingers as the would be kleptos one works with never seem to learn.

Everyone wants one, nobody wants to pay. If these penguinos think *I'm* springing for them...

Stephen, just give them the URL for this forum and watch HIKV in action!

HI Khukuri Range Safety Officer

Harry's right, Stephen, this khuk thing is unbelievably contagious.

And you're absolutely correct about needing to keep a firm grip on the handle -- I have a few scars to show what can happen when you sometimes forget to do it.

What I meant was that everyone wants to try it out and goes looking for something to clobber with it. Lacking a shrub, they are using thumbs to test the edge...
