General Amar Singh Thapa Knife

I received a shipment of a very special knife few days back, a replica of the
original Knife used by General Amar Singh Thapa more than 250 years ago when he fought a war to centralize Nepal.

Unfortunately, the Sarki's didn't pay enough attention to detail when they
made the scabbards for this special knife. The blade and the handle are in perfect
condition. The knife doesn't easily slip into the sheath and requires a couple
of taps or a slight bit of jiggling to get it to fit into the sheath.

Because of this oversight at my factories, I am selling this beautiful knife at
a reduced price. My loss is your gain once again when you add this famous
Khukuri knife to your collections at near cost.

General Amar Singh Thapa

Email sent on #1 (and #2 if moogoogaidan backs out or doesn't follow through with an email to himimp@aol.com).

Followup: moogoogaidan took #2, but didn't request #4, so I got #s 1 and 4. I like the handle on #3 the best (the palm-side pommel flare is reduced and the lanyard hole is low on the handle), followed by 2, 4, and finally 1. However, at this price they're all an outstanding deal. If the sheath is unusably tight, the savings are big enough to have a new sheath made, although I hope they aren't too bad and that they may even loosen up a bit over time.

I have one of these.

The blades look narrow in the pics but that is deceptive. This is not a lightweight khuk.

The blades are thick at the spine and they impact with the force of a small sledge:eek:

Wicked!

CRAP!
Oh well, I knew somehow this would happen.

I suppose that is what I get for going and visiting my folks. ;)

it is the price that is the real cool deal, you see being disabled means every dollar counts. The one left is twice the price of these so I suppose this idea is done for now until the next big mistake.

Oh well. You wins some you loose some... :)

I'd buy #3 if that's a typo. If not, congrats on the sharking. It's one of the best deals I've ever seen.

Oh well good sharking, the feeding was all over by 06.25 local time well before I was out of bed.

So Congrats to all , to the rest of us, better luck next time.

Man, you guys are all great sports! Believe me, i know how lucky i am to grab the deal, but i DO watch the DOTD threads like a hawk, so i did my due diligence! ;)

That's why I love this particular forum so much -- such a great community. Cheers guys, I promise to hang back next time when such an incredible deal rolls around again!

I do my due diligence too, it is just my dumb luck that I wind up being on vacation visiting my Mom and the rest of my family that I rarely see since they all live in Florida and I am in Indiana and I can't do airplanes because of my back problems and panic attacks due to claustrophobia. It is rare that I am able to find a way down here and since my folks are fairly old, Mom doesn't travel much at all and I really wanted to see her at least one more time prior to the time I will be with her in heaven. So I jumped at the cahce when it presented itself. :)

In any case, this sort of things happens. There will be other deals and other times and likely, with my luck I will be telling the victors then they did a good job too. ;) Ain't no thang.

I had just been there to see Yangdu that morning, about an hour before her post. I was picking up Villager black blade from 4/29. I was warned that there was going to be some great deals coming soon, I just had no idea it was in the next hour .
I was in a bit of a hurry, and didn't inquire about what may be coming, plus I feel it is an unfair advantage to go sharking around before the prey even hits the water :). Congrats to those who acquired some terrific deals

What's the process for dealing with a damaged package, resulting in a missing knife? Here's what I received from the USPS:

One of the khukris (ASTK #1) was still in the package, but the other (ASTK #4) is missing. I can go to the Post Office tomorrow to ask if they know where it is, but I suspect that it would have been delivered if they did. I see that the package was insured -- do I need to file paperwork on my end for a claim to be processed?
