An amazing, rare event has happened that will make one of you very happy.
Tirtha Kami sent me a sharp villager finish knife without a handle and my father, Pala, made a handle for it with mesquite wood donated by you forumites.

The blade is very sharp and the handle is beautiful and ready for any battle.
The wood grain stands out dramatically, making the knife a valuable addition to your collection. I am amazed by what my father & Tirtha Kami can do together, even thousands of miles apart.

My father comes from a big family of 6 boys and 4 girls. One-by-one, the 4 boys born before
my father was born, all died of childhood diseases. His parents believed that
they were the victims of an evil spirit. As was the custom, children were named positive, honorable names.

When my father was born, his parents decided to block the evil spirit and named my father
"Kami" which means untouchable. All knife makers are untouchable cast and
called "Kami" as part of their name. Once my father was named "Kami," the evil spirit left and the rest of the children were born healthy and survived.

My father grew up with the Kamis in his village and he still looks out for them. They eat, work and spent Dashain and Tihar holidays together. But, between you and me, he does better work than the Kamis.

This is a lifetime opportunity to add this magnificent one-of-a-kind knife to your collection.

It looks like a magnificent kukri with a good story behind it! A wee bit too much for me though.

Good for you, Alexs! I was out in the field today, or else you might have had some competition for that one!

That mesquite hilt reminds me of Beech. Absolutely beautiful. I'm amazed at Pala's talents. He can make handles for my knives anytime.
