villager?

village fit and finish just means a khuk that did not get the final polish. it has a satin finish instead of mirror and the handle is dull/rougher than usual.

If you ask most khuk knuts, they'll tell you that they like villagers best;)

Also it seems like the edge on a villager is always thin and sharp while sometimes that's not the case with the polished blades.

Villagers are my favorites. They also seem to have a better edge than the highly polished ones.

Villagers are generally only offered on DOTDs and since all items offered that way usually are less than the price listed on the web site it's really hard to give you a definitive answer, but yes kurks with a village finish tend to be a little cheaper than standard finish items but it also depends on the item, the kami and the quality of the item.

is there a price difference in the finishes?

The non-villager finish are usually mirror-polished... like the name suggests, you can see your reflection in it. This probably has a bit better resistance to corrosion, but the edge can be buffed dull in the process. The villagers have a more rough finish with visible scratches all about the surface.

It often comes with a better edge, though the many marks on the surface can be conducive to rust if not rigorously cared for... more so than the mirror polished specimens.

Personally, I like both. If I was doing any food prep, say, with a small khuk or karda, I'd prefer mirror.

Forge scale is something else altogether... don't have one of those yet, but aesthetically I'd enjoy it too I'm sure.

the rough black forge scale contrasting with a polished, sharpened edge is quite stunning.
I'd love one of these as well.

Often handles are a little longer on villagers..or so it has been with my 12 in AK.
