The village models are from BirGorkha and typical. Good solid khukuris that will do the job for a lifetime or two. Steel fittings, satin finish -- you can bring it to presentation grade is less than two hours if using no power tools. If you have a buffer 30 minutes brings it to presentation grade. These villagers are great buys and I wish we could get more of them.

17 inch 24 ounce WWII by Kumar. Great work by fine kami. $75 UBBB

17 inch 23 ounce Ganga Ram by Bura. The helpers are gone -- maybe a new one or two in to help Bura. Everybody in the shop is watching Bura and his crew so I don't think we'll see any of the infamous trick handles. This is a hell of a buy for $75. UBBB

16 inch 24 ounce Chiruwa AK by Amtrak. More than money's worth at $70 UBBB

15 inch 21 ounce BAS by Kumar. Excellent work. Presentation grade in less than two hours. $60

15" 20 ounce BAS by Sher. $60

These Biltons are from Sgt. Karka's shop and relect a more traditional khukuri than BirGorkha models. 9 inches and 5 or 6 ounces. Very nicely done by Sgt. Karka and crew who give us nothing but their best effort. Your choice red velvet or black leather scabbard. $35 and UBBB

This, of course, HAD to be the day I did some retirement planning... That GRS is sweet.

Excellent selection!

Mmmmmm.........Tempting.................. :D

New people here should look at the differences
between the 2 BAS (British Army Service).
Good examples of the variation you're likely to see;
Even sometimes when made by the same kami.

Also note that wood-handled BAS are not very common. Get it while you can (I've got one, already :) )!

email sent on the red velvet scabbard biltong UB

I guess the little redhead is calling my name :D

I was just going to say.....

"where's Hollowdweller?"

looks like I didn't need to.......:D

Hope I snagged it. That is just the perfect size and weight.

Yeaa!! I got it! Looks like a nice one. Minimal cho creep.

True but this one is also one of thems veel e gerz. I don't think I've seen one o these before.

e-mail sent on Chiruwa AK.

I've been wanting one of these, and glad I waited for a villager.

Just looking at it, I think it will become my favorite already.... :D

I would like to see a lot more villagers too!

Love the wood handles, steel fittings, and the certain I don't know what it is about them.

I am going to rehandle all of my horn handled khuks eventually. (except for the 15 AK, my wife has claimed that one, and she won't let me replace the horn handle on it!)

Congrats to Hollowdweller! He saved me a tough choice!

Email sent & fingers crossed on WWII.

Tell me that khuk isn't made to be used- seems to be perfect size, weight & finish for a knockaround khuk...

I'm not even a big fan of AK's but that one looks really good! Both Blade shape and handle! :D

The Horn handle BAS looks almost WW2 ish too!

Anybody that's going back and forth about getting a biltong NEEDS to jump on these made by the Sgt. I have one by him and it is flawless. Beautifully fit and finished, convex edge, trad. bolster, minimal cho creep, and its tang goes all the way through to the buttcap. One of my favorite hiking knives. Ferret is going to the vet, or i'd snap one or two of these up. Villagers are wonderful:)

Agreed!! I have been wanting a khuk just like that for a couple months. I would have grabbed it, except for the credit card only thing. I think I'll have to ask Uncle Bill to get me one like that.

E-mail sent for BAS'. Hope I'm not too late :( . Just got off work.

BAS' on the way! Guess I got lucky today ;) .

(Insert expletive here.) The worst part about coming home from work is finding a specials thread that's already 3 hours old featuring villagers. Oh well, hopefully I'll get in on the next one. :)

Have fun with that WWII Ad Astra, and remember -- thrash it like I would've. ;)

Appreciated, Satori. I doubt I could, after reading about the foliage beatings you put on. I DID get it for a friend, for a gift. He's a vet who used to work as a cowboy & at a slaughterhouse out west in Kansas. He can sharpen a knife like nobody's business, and I thought it might make a great first khuk. He has knives that look like they've been used for a hundred years, literally worn down, and they're his favs. Like the story about the sirupati that was once an M43.

Ah, heck. I'll come right out and admit it. I'm hoping he'll share sharpening secrets. I read & read the FAQ, and even short versions from the forum diamond honers, but I feel like a cat trying to learn algebra.

Even if I never learn, I just might spread HIKV to someone who appreciates well-made knives. Whenever I get a new one, he always checks it out... the only one he ever said was sharp was my 20" AK- and I didn't sharpen that one. I think Sher did.

If he gets bit, and joins the forum, I hope he picks a name like "SlaughterVet".
Keep 'em thinking.
