This story starts about two years ago when I saw this photo made by Murray White during Blade 2012 of two of Vince Evans daggers. I always have admired his work but it was almost unobtainable.
Fast forward to last weekend. By chance I came upon Vince his website and to my surprise there was a tab available. I opened it and there it was, the dagger from two years ago in all its glory. The blade length is 33 cm / 13 inches and the overall length is 45.5 cm / 18 inches. The blade is pattern welded steel forged in a twist pattern, the guard and the pommel are also pattern welded steel. The grip is fossil walrus ivory. The sheath is leather over wood with engraved silver fittings.
I hardly ever buy knives anymore, most of them dont appeal to me and the ones that appeal to me are normally way out of my price range. Daggers like this get my juices flowing, but I thought that pricewise this dagger would be out of range as well. I gave it a shot anyway because I really really liked this piece, so I emailed Vince. I got a really fast response and the price he was asking was within my range.:thumbup: So we struck a deal. The only thing that needs to be done is the permits we need to export and import it, due to the fact that the handle is made of fossil walrus ivory. As we speak we are working on the permits and Im confident that it will work out great. While we wait for the permits Vince is going to make a display stand for this beautiful piece.
