Steve McNatt and Vincenzo Balistreri teamed up to produce this version of a saddlehorn. It’s 4” closed with black micarta scales and the most magnificent clip point blade of AEB-L steel. I’ve been fortunate to handle some wonderful knives in my years, but I honestly feel this is “the one.”95020817-1777-49B1-85F6-7E050994FA77.jpeg12FCD42F-884C-46A0-A498-8F870BA26C71.jpeg168428EC-5F75-4428-B940-25DA48508793.jpeg

I have 2 superb knives by the Maestro Vincenzo Balistreri & one K'roo I bought via 3 finger Mac (Steve McNatt). Could not be happier.

Congrats, Alan; that looks like a splendid knife!:cool::cool::thumbsup:
(And it reminds me that I should try out the saddle horn pattern sometime.)

Thanks Gary. I've been lusting after a saddlehorn for a while. The single blades by Case are a little smaller and the larger ones were missing something when I looked, which is how I ended up with the Rough Ryder bow trapper. It was a compromise but still a nice pattern.

Interesting what you wrote about Rough Ryders. I thought they used to carry "normal" saddlehorn patterns, but the only RR saddlehorn I see currently seems to me (and my less than perfect eyes) to be identical to a RR clip/spey bow trapper. Marbles has a 5" closed model with "swoopy" D2 blades that is too big for my taste. Frost has a bunch of saddlehorn knives that look very traditional, in a wide variety of handle materials, but I'm reluctant to try Frost products.

Ernie1980 Ernie1980 I'd say the pull is close to 7, but the fact that it will be pinched open means it's not an important factor IMO.
