saw a post on some where that mentioned a boiled vinegar etch. I would like to try that and a couple of questions

Does it matter what kind of vinegar
How long to leave it in the vinegar
Does it need any type of neutralizing
Thanks guys.

Since one has yet answered, I will give my experience. I leave the blade in boiling distilled white vinegar for five minutes. (I doubt the type of vinegar matters). Then I take it out, neutralize with windex and polish with flitz, 1500 grit silicon carbide, etc. I do these cycles till I am satisfied with the result.

This is an example of vinegar.
This is an example of FeCl

If you want to really darken it more mix some steeped black tea with the boiled vinegar. The tannins in the tea contribute to the blackening
