Vinegar patina question

I have this big idea of buffing out my blade pre-handle, then putting a vinegar patina on it, then mounting up the scales, assuming all goes well.
I am wondering if the patine under the scales might be an issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m by no means an expert but the times I’ve done vinegar patina or any forced patina I have applied the patina then taped up the surface beyond the handle and carefully ground just the handle portion so I have a clean roughed surface for epoxy.

If you rinse the blade well after the soak, it should not be an issue.
