That's all I needed to hear. If he's not buying at wholesale, then turning around and selling at retail, he isn't a dealer. If you guys say this, it is so.
You have to look at it from my point of view as well. First off - banning is not irreversable. When a moderator or myself bans someone, it's as simple as flipping a switch. The light can come on or go off in a second.
Second - when we turn off someones posting abilities for something like this I send them an email asking for an explanation so I can make a more informed decision. Until Duane posted this, I'd sent 3 emails back and forth to Vinnie, without getting an answer that definately put him on one side or another. To Vinnie's credit, he was uniformly polite and willing to work with me through this - I just wasn't getting the answers I needed. The last email I sent him asked him point blank if he was getting knives at wholesale and turning around and reselling them - though I haven't gotten a reply yet, I trusted that I would get one come morning.
Third - I am the final authority when it comes to banning someone permenantly. In this case, my moderators alerted the other moderators by linking to his thread in the Back End forum (where we discuss these sorts of things. The consensus was, "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck". Words like "just in" and "in stock, ready to ship" immediately trigger alarms for our For Sale moderators, who's job responsibilities include monitoring for dealers posing as individuals.
When this happens, we move the threads, turn of the profile's posting abilities, and contact the person in question. We turn them off first because in the past we've had several individuals get notice that we have questions for them, then attempt to sell many, many knives before their ads get yanked for good.
Again, this was not a permanent ban at this point - Vinnie and I were still discussing things. Since you've vouched for him Duane, I don't think there needs to be any more discussion.
