I have this Al Mar traditional lock back folder. No steel type stamping. It looks like HAWK model but the blade style is different. Anybody could tell me the model and the steel or what equivalent? Thanks in advance.

*Sorry for the ruler. It's there for a scale comparison.*

Sorry, I can't give you any info on the knife since the only Al Mar I've got is a SERE, but I did want to say that it's an absolute BEAUTY!! The blade shape is really stunning, and the knife has gorgeous lines. That's definitely one to hold onto.

Good luck

That is actually the newer "Talon" blade grind. Model would be determined by blade length. Eagle is the largest size I have seen in that style at 4", with the Falcon next, then the Hawk and the Osprey at the bottom.

Here is a Falcon from around 1980. Flat grind with swedge tip.

Edit to add: if my screen is right, yours looks to be a Falcon as well.

I love Al Mar folders. That knife is great looking, yeah, both of that knife.:p

Oh, and I forgot to say I think by the time they rolled out the Talon grind the steel had gone to AUS-8, but I could easily be wrong. I know my Falcon featherweight from the 90's says AUS-8.

I have a vintage Eagle and Talon I think anyhow I have the Eagle for sure and the next size smaller they make a nice pair, both have a false edge, Purdy knives.
