Today was a perrty quiet day around the ranch... The wife decided to go to an estate sale, so I figured what the heck, not much else going on ...

On my way out to the garage, I spotted a spotting scope laying on a table.
I knew it was old, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was an old B&L Balscope Zoom 15x 60 . I have never looked through a vintage B & L Spotter before , but have had numerous early B & L rifle scopes before, and the durability and optical quality of these early versions are great.
When I asked to take it outside to try it out, I couldn't believe it.
The optical quality is absolutely incredible. I used a butte that was about a mile and a half away as a test.
I turned it up to 60 and got it focused, and the amount of detail and edge to edge clarity was terrific, and that was holding by hand, resting on the hood of my truck.

It is in terrific condition and has the factory screw in lense caps. Now I just need to mount a tripod on it. I've used some very high end spotters before and enjoy them a lot, but this 50 year old B&L compares to and even exceeds the performance of some of the high end spotters.
All for the grand price of $30.00 :D
