Picked up this Colonial Toothpick today for cheap.
It is an arched tang stamp Colonial which I believe dates it to the Depression era.
This is the type knife I imagine Depression Era Street Thugs and Country Knife Fighters carried :D

Nice one!
Thanks! It carries nicely in the pocket and has plenty of walk n talk after I oiled it.
The guy I bought it from got it in a pile of knives which had been confiscated at an airport. He bought them by the pound!
Blade has been reprofiled a bit but I still like it very much. Very thin.

Nice find! It's cool to see an old one, I don't see very many of them shown. Thanks for sharing.

Hi,

That's a nice one. Those old Colonials' and Imperials don't always seem to get much love today. Kind of sad in my eyes. I think of them as the "common man's" knife, cheap and easily available.

The shell handle ones are not my favorites but the older ones like this toothpick and a little Imperial pen knife I have are great little cheapies. I don't know what steel they used back then but it takes and edge faster than anything I have seen.

Nice find. I have a soft spot for toothpicks. Nice to see some interest in them.

Nice shadow. I live in Mass., and you see a lot of Colonials around. Usually the stamped metal ones. Local antique stores want an arm and a leg for them but occasionally when one shows up at a good price I never pass it up. They had a cool way to staple the shield on.

If you want more info about your knife, AAPK has a dedicated forum just for Colonial knives. Robert Paolantonio, the grandson of the founder of Colonial frequents the forum and will have info.

I don't think the admins are accepting new members on that forum :( I have created an account twice there and never gotten a follow up email .
Would one of you gents be willing to post this photo of my 'pick on their Colonial forum and see if anyone can tell anything about it? I would appreciate it and bookmark the thread.
Thanks.
