[Axe To Grind]

I have just been given a great condition Council Tools Velvicut 4lb axe for my growing collection of axes from around the world. From what I was told from an email exchange from Council Tools is that these were produced about 25 years ago. Has anyone had the pleasure of trying this axe out? I haven't tried it yet but would love to hear people's opinions of it.

Council Tool was already marketing Velvicut axes about 50 years ago, according to some publications back then. The Velvicut trademark registration year was 1962, but the trademark was first used by Council in 1956, according to the USPTO.

Worthy of note is the fact that Council Tool Company developed and introduced on the American market the double edge, ... markets all of its tools under the COUNCIL name and has two copyrighted grades of axes, "Railsplitter" and "Velvicut.
