Anyone know if Gerber made these old chef knives in stainless or where they all chrome plated tool steel?

Yep, they were made in 440C stainless and in chrome plated M2 high speed steel.
Distinguishable by a capitol S inside a circle behind the model name on the stainless models, and a sword on the M2 models.

Currently i own 2 Balmung slicers and a Flamborge Chef knife, all in M2 steel.
One of the slicers is on loan with a friend of mine who is a real Chef with more than 40 years of experience under his belt, and he simply loves the knife.
A bit difficult to get a really good edge on them, but when you do it is there to stay for quite some time.

Thanks a lot. Its amazing that Gerber once offered the choice of 440c or M2!
