Vintage Helko Hatchet

i was in the basement lookin for another small hatchet when i re-found this one. its marked ''HELKO'' dropped forged made in germany an so far i cant find a comparison model on google images or ebay..........looks to be from 60's ??? ..........what are you thoughts

I would trust the German steel, unlike the presumably Chinese version (remarkably siimilar) currently available brand new in the USA for 9 bucks shipped:

Geez.........$9 shipped??? thats SAD in so many ways an only stands to reinforce the madness behind why i collect vintage tools among other things from years gone by......... crazy world man
 
Yeah this guy has been popping up everywhere. Good news is I've beat the hell out of that beautiful Swiss Reserve Kitchen hatchet and it is still crazy sharp. Fantastic tool for 20 bones. I have the Larger swiss axe en route as well as a 20 inch swedish axe, should have a pretty good collection of surplus axes going after all that. Helko is a renowned company that has some very interesting designs, including a cheap working competition axe. Nice find!
