Swiss made. I collect hiking staffs and walking sticks. I have some modern carbide tipped sticks, but for something different and at 35 inches overall length, I picked this up to use as a hiking stick on icy trails and paths in the winter.
A tiny little local start-up began with ice axes 80 years ago. Now we know them as REI. Today they still feature ice axes as handles on the front doors of their stores.
I like the older style ice axes. I picked up an old Stubai with a broken haft to turn it into a walking stick for the mountains. I have screwed up the channels for fitting the langets twice now, ruining both blanks. 3rd time is hopefully the charm.
