Just picked up this tomahawk off the bay. It appears to be an original late production Lagana Vietnam Hawk. But I've never actually held one before so I'm not sure. I hope Snake and Dusty can chime in.

Plus the head is a little loose, how can I tighten the fit? Soak in water? Pour a little blo in it?

Hey Dirtbiker.....I believe I know that tomahawk. If I'm not mistaken......I think you have an old Cold Steel hawk with a stamped sheath or original lagana sheath. Any markings on the head? I'm not certain of this.......as the spike looks Lagana and the eye is not as squared as the Cold Steels I'm thinking of.

Dusty knows more than me on the older models......but this one does look rather familiar and I know some of the old Cold Steels are very similar.

Got all the pics and messages you sent Dirtbiker. It's really hard to tell. That spike is really throwing me off on yours but everything else seems right. Like I said......not so sure about the sheath either. This will be interesting.

I've got most the newer models locked down pretty well, but the older ones I'm not quite as experienced as Dusty is. Hopefully he chimes in.

Agreed, Dusty should be able to help. I don't know anything about Pete's later run of 'hawks, either. The only hands-on I have is with his initial version with the blonde haft and natural leather sheath.

Everything looks pretty good. Can you post a few more of the dimensions.....

Vintage Lagana Vietnam Tomahawk... upon seeing this, for a split second the thought raced through my mind... a tomahawk for Vietnamese Lasagna???

I now have it in hand and I'm sure it's genuine. The cold steel is close but there are just too many differences for it not to be real.

Another confirmation of authenticity is the "TAIWAN" stamp on the side of the Cold Steels.
You have a true piece of history man I hope you enjoy your find

They've got it pictured in this months Recoil Magazine, or it may be a reproduction of that model.

Good stuff
