A neat, vintage bowie with a stout blade, by John Nowill & Sons, Sheffield, which firm was begun in the year-of-our-Lord 1700.
The stock is actually 9/16" thick coming out of the handle, then quickly tapers to 3/8" and then gracefully tapers further, down to a strong tip. The spine and choil have a nice, graceful domed profile. Plenty of stock moving forward to the tip, before the flat-grind heads south to the edge. Presumably, a high-carbon steel....
The joined handle slabs are of a high-grade, richly-figured wood, which looks much like the 'claro walnut' the finest custom gunstocks are made from. Plenty of mass there, making for a handful.
Blade overall length is 6 3/4", and edge is 5 1/4"
Handle is 5", OAL is 11 3/4"
No sheath. Some scuffing/scratches on the blade, but just typical wear.
$149. $139. $120. $110. $99.shipped to the CONUS
