A good friend of mine gave...er well he sold it to me for a dollar....vintage Remington Bullet knife. The knife is a large trapper style with carbon blades, and stag scales. He said he received the knife back in the 30's. I'll try to post pics of the knife Monday, and see if you guys can help me date it. Its too bad they don't make them like this anymore.

That is quite a nice friend you have! (as well as the knife) ;).

If you have what you say you have and it is in mint, you've got quite an investor there!!!

I wish it was MINT, but its been well used. Everyone says he has always carried this knife, and he has used it on just about every game animal in East Texas. I am attaching pics below.

He also gave me a very nice Winchester Model 12 .20ga Nickel Steel 25" barrel shotgun that is in very good shape for its age. It belonged to his grandfather, and he wanted me to have it. I declined, and told him to give it to one of his kids, and then he told me that they would probably sell it or not appreciate it. I accepted and told him that I would pass it to my son.

Here she is!

Man that is sweeet. I've always hoped to run across one of those one day. The ones I've seen were way out of my price range. That's the pattern I really like. At least there are new knives still made that way. Congrates on a true piece of Americana. ;)

This is the kind of thing that we all love to hear, as collectors of knives and guns. Better that your friend passed his Remington and the Winchester on to you, because you'll truly appreciate them, rather than have them go to someone who won't care for their history or craftsmanship.
Congratulations.

I'm new to this board. Seems like a great bunch. I signed up because I've received a vintage Remington bullet knife. It's the R4243, and has the circle stamp which indicates it was made in 1933-1935. It's dirty and tarnished but has snap to the 4 blades. It's known as the Camp knife. The 4 blades are the clip and spey blades in the front and the sheep foot and punch in the back. It has grooved bolsters and a bail. The bone handle is not cracked! As mentioned all the blades snap except the clip blade doesn't snap when the punch is in the closed position.

I'm excited about this knife and signed up on this board in hopes of researching it further. Any more information will be appreciated.

I am a collector of the re-issue bullet knives. I have 11 of the annual issues, plus the 1988 Madison, NC knife which I bought not knowing the difference at the time. I do now.

I also have one very old single-blade bone-handled remington knife that has seen lots of sharpening. I has a rather crude bone-handle fit-to-finish. There's no bolster or bail in the back. The front has a large bolster with the word Remington stamped on both sides. The blade has the barely discernable
"Made in USA" circle stamp.
