Picked this up today after buying it Monday at a local gun shop.

1947-1950 Stevens 325A Bolt Action .30-30.

In really fine shape, mostly cosmetic wear.

A real workhorse for sure! I have never owed one of those, but have handled them in gun shops. rare now. As I remember they had a somewhat complicated bolt assembly, some features of which are still found in the newer Savage rifles. A good woods gun.

Very nice! I have an old Savage (same gun) but not in that condition I love it! Enjoy

Wow, I just pulled the action out of the stock to give it a good cleaning and check it over good, and there is not a single spot of rust under the stock.

This thing has been very well cared for. Can't wait to test drive it!!!

Thats not old, it isn't near as old as me.:D I remember when they came out. I had a couple of them way back.

They were good solid rifles. I am sure you will enjoy it. It must not be a good sign when you remember all the stuff that ios now antique.:D

Cool. Being a bolt action, you can handload spitzer bullets and get more range and accuracy than lever action 30-30s. Nice find.

I had never heard of this rifle until last week. A buddy and I were driving around and we went by one of his friends' houses. He said this guy had an old bolt gun and he was wanting some kind of low cost hunting rifle (this particular friend is not a "gun guy").

So we get there and his friend tells him that the gun won't cycle right so he can't sell it to him. I told him I have a little gun business on the side (mostly NFA stuff) and would he consider selling it to me. He said sure, he'd even make me a great deal. $50 out the door.

Two taps on the magazine lips and it's feeding fine now. I told him what the problem was when I was there but he just wanted to get rid of it and my friend didn't want a gun he had to work on. Fine by me.

Mine isn't in nearly as good a shape as yours but the bore is really clean and the action is fine. I'll probably refinish the stock on it and play around with it a bit. I may see if my friend wants it then...........or I may keep it.

Very nice find. Neat little woods bumming guns.

Very nice I had one.I handloaded up some sweet loads using pointed bullets, spire points. Was a very sweet shooter as mostly 30 30 loads get blunt tips on account of the usual tubular feeds that most 30 30 are.Took quite a few deer and a couple elk before getting rid of it
Have fun with that one

a bolt action 30.-30 and I am thinking 125 grain Nosler ballistic tip bost tail! That gun is a handloaders dream!

Short, light and handy. Good for knockin' around in the woods. Should be a fair bit more accurate than a lever gun. Good caliber.

Hmm... I don't see any drawbacks.

Good find! :D
