Vintage teardrop jacks!

I recently bought my first couple teardrop jacks, and I'm really loving the pattern. I typically gravitate to collecting knives with bone handles, but in the past few weeks I've managed to snag these two gems, and they may be slowly turning me toward the beauty of good, vintage wood handles.

I snapped a few pictures of these two together today. I thought it interesting how even though they hail from two different companies (and most likely a couple decades apart), how similar they are.

The single blade jack is an original Northfield UNXLD and the two blade with shield is an Ulster.

So let's see yours! Bone handles, wood, ivory, or anything else you might have!

Thanks for looking!

Don't own a teardrop jack but they sure look smooth, comfortable and pocketable. Very nice.

It's one of my favorite patterns, but I only have one, and it's not vintage.

What are the measurements of those knives?

Thanks Ryan! That's the first original Northfield I've ever come across, and I couldn't pass it up!

Post it up anyway! I should have worded the original post a little differently. Mine are vintage, but modern makes are a good thing too! They measure 3-5/8" closed, 6.5" open.

Beautiful knives Dan...thanks for posting. My "more modern" GEC #85 in cocobolo is one of my favorites and gets carried often. pic for reference

I've no vintage in this pattern, much to my dismay. The Teardrop or Swell End is overlooked in my view, yet so right in the hand, looks tidy too!
When Photobucket stops having a day off to barf-up...I'll show some 'modern' ha ha! Traditionals of this fine genre: Queen, GEC and even a custom....I had a Colt version, very well made indeed but too much bling on board for my taste so I gave it to a plumber, he liked it!

Thanks, Will

Gone?!? Weren't those the ones that you were afraid the USPS had lost? I'm sorry to hear that!

That brass EO (Remington?) gets me every time I see it. Lovely knife!

Some lovely knives here, love the Northfield Dan (guess what I'm reading?!) :)

Those are the ones, I just unfortunately can't afford to have to many knives that aren't being used anymore. I had to send them to better homes.

I'm still loving and using that brass Remington though, that thing is a brute( they made 'em to be used back then for sure :) )

I love this pattern! It was only made by one cutlery, when I used it for my first HJ several years ago, at Queen.
I got this one at a knife show in Easton PA, a few years back! One like it inspired my first HJ!

Sorry the blade is obscured - it's a nice one!

BP on the shield stands for Belt Punch I believe!

You don't often find a clip blade in a teardrop - Schrade Cut Co.

Note the little glitch in the swedge. They hand cut the swedges back then. Some are of the opinion that this was a second!!

Vintage is a relative concept....:D.

The Peach-kernel on that Teardrop Clip is transfixing Charlie:thumbup::thumbup:
