Vintage USAF survival knife?

I recently found this Boker USA knife with sheath for a VERY good price and believe it to be a USAF survival kit knife from the 1950's. Can any of you verify that this is an original? I have seen the article in May 1953 National Geographic and other photos on the web and this appears to be an original. I am also looking for a copy of KNIFE WORLD September 2002 if anyone can point me in that direction. Thanks for any help.

I'm no expert, but it looks like the real deal to me....

that tang stamp was used from the 1930s to 1950s, so the dates look right.
