I was at a local Militaria/Antique store the other day and saw this cool old military survival mirror and just had to have it. It's in good used shape. I've did a little research and based on that and the writing on the mirror itself determined a few things. It measures 4X5 inches and was made by General Electric during the middle part of WWII. It has a clear cross in the middle for sighting and is made of tempered glass that is said to be able to withstand 5 foot drops (no I haven't tried it;)). It's a cool piece of military history that is still useful today. I just wonder if it saved some poor guy's bacon. I wish it could talk. Now a couple of pics. Thanks for looking.

I have the exact same one...
My father was a radio man on the USS Waterman until the end of the war. That mirror was in a canvas bag with other survival and first aid gear. He brought back much of his gear at the end of the war. I've had it for 35 years now!

I would have never guessed it was as old as it is when I bought it. I thought it was really cool it was that old. Who knows where it's been!

Yeah,
My father thought he wasn't coming back and was really lucky to, many on his ship didn't. At one point they were adrift with no power or ability to communicate...that mirror was used to summons help.
