I found myself in the right place at the right time this weekend, and was able to get a brand new Viper MV1.

Is there anyone out there who is using theirs? I'm trying to resist the temptation to carry mine, but would love to know how it performs.

It seems to me that it would make a great carry piece.

My knives!

2Sharp, that right place happened to be Paragon in NYC. Even better, I paid well under "market value"
I had no intentions that day of buying any knives, I was just passing through the neighborhood, and decided to see what was there

I spent close to six years of just missing out on getting a CQC6 at a good price, so it's a great feeling to finally have the dice
roll in my favor

Congratulations,
The Viper 1 is my favorite carry of the customs. Perfect size for a suit, and the best blade to handle ratio of all. And,you got a good price at Paragon? Hope you also bought a lottery ticket that day. Enjoy it.

Good thing for you Mark that I decided to leave that Viper resting in the showcase where it was originally placed near the Crawford customs!

Too bad I was holiday shopping for others.

Amazingly, I did get a very fair price at Paragon, quite a bit less than I've seen them sell for recently.

Nakano. not only do I thank you, but my credit card company thanks you too

Buying a something he last thing I was thinking of doing when I went in there, I just wanted to look.

Paragon still has a CQC6 ($1200) and a pearl&damascus CQC6 ($4000) in stock for any who are interested. Just a credit card away...

So how much was the Paragon selling the Viper 1 for?

I also got a very good deal a few weeks ago on one of the new Elishewitz fixed blades. Unlike most of the ones I have seen lately, this model has a fully sharpened false edge that goes alomst the whole length of the blade. The price was $350. I think someone messed up because something like this would usually go for $450 - $475 at the Paragon

Marc, congrats on your Viper. From what you told me, great price too. Hard to believe Paragon would let it go at that price. Much less then what I paid.

Paragon was selling the same damascus/pearl CQC6 @ the NY show for $3,200.00. Well, it was priced at $4,000.00 but they were giving a 20% discount.

Congrats on the Viper, I really like that knife. And use it-that's what it was made for. You can always have it refinished if you need to sell it.
Paragon's prices have been discussed for a long time. Usually they mark up like double the average rate, which is attributed to location in Manhattan. Nice score.

Marc,
I stopped by Paragon last night to take a look at the CQC6. It's a 2000 but it had a double bevel edge. I was tempted to pick it up until I saw the edge. I could use an extra 6

.

They also had a serial numbered Mach 1. #029. Asking price $259.00. It was by the production knives. I didn't know these were ever serial numbered.

The first Mach1s were serial numbered. A buddy has 77 & 78.

Speaking of serial numbers, I hear that the Black-T Waved Sevens are serialized.

Speaking of serial numbers, there is a good sub-topic for the Gallery - serialized customs. I have seen four custom folders with serial numbers on them. How many are out there, and what are the numbers?

Jbravo:

What Emerson Custom Knives have you seen that have serial numbers on them.

The only two I have seen, (and own) are the following:

CQC6/Viper.
Titanium LaGriff

Yes,Interesting points above.

I have Prototype SOCFKs hand ground by Ernie and numbered # 4 & # 6 and both are tantos in satin finish. Other than these I agree with Sniper 308 that the CQC6/vipers in MOP and Ti La Grieffes are numbered as well. My Ti La Grieff is # 63.

John mentioned serialised production waved CQC7 in Black T. I have just received last Saturday, this tanto folder with # 10 marked under the tumb wheel.

Hi Guys -

I'd like to stress that I'm talking about custom knives with serial numbers, not the prodo pieces that have a hand ground edge or something similar.

As Don noted, the combo knives that Ernie made just for export to the Japanese Market only - the CQC6 handled knives with Viper style blades chisel ground on the correct side - were serialized. He said he made 17 of these, with 9 being the full dress version. All the tactical ones sold in Japan, and 4 of the full dress did. I've personally seen number 008 and 009, and I believe at least two more are already sold to people here in the states.

The Stealth knives were numbered. The best guess anyone can make is that five were made total, and I've personally seen number 005.

The very first CQC5 was numbered, 001. I don't know if any others were numbered, but I have never heard of any.

These may be the only ones with numbers...Anyone out there with a custom knife that is marked?
