I know there is at least a 4year wait for Emerson customs. I know that they come out with a new design every year. Is there any possibility of making production models of any of the handmades other that the CQC-7? Not all of us have the money of the patience to wait for a custom. Four years!!! I afraid that I will be disappointed. I waited over three and half years for a custom 45 from a famous South African gunsmith who originally quote a 12 to 18 month wait time. I gave him a deposit and waited..... Later, he took a job working for someone else and his custom work was obscenely delayed. When I finally got the 45, the first time i took it to the range. The front site fell off. It took almost another month before it came back.

I know that you cannot blanket all custom shops, but a four year wait. Sorry, I rather go to the store and buy something off the shelf.

I doubt that we will see Viper models in production at all. There was some talk two years ago about a possible pruduction CQC8 or 9 but this never cam about. I think there are just too many new projects coming out in the production house to see a lot of other models implemented. It's just to costly to release a lot of different models. Custom makers are also reluctant to make all their custom models production but this is also limited by the enormous cost and no guarantee that the sales would outweigh the initial cost of production.

From what I've been reading on the forums, there is some awesome stuff coming out. I can't wait for the production version of that prototype and the CQC7 wave. There's also the Mach 1.

As cool as it would be, I doubt that we will be seeing a production Viper. When I spoke to Ernie a few months we discussed the Viper series but he did not mention any possibility of a production version. I also showed him an old prototype he had made for Benchmade's consideration. He did express an interest in the knife as a possible future production knife. Whether he was just thinking out loud or was more serious is anybody's guess.
