That is very ridiculous. Making criminals out of law abiding citizens. Do they really think that will reduce crime? Is there a problem with people commiting crimes with knives in the parks of Virginia? I hope all of the Virginia forumites will take a stand on this.

On the bright side, maybe it will help most of the popular knife manufacurers to improve their abysmal marketing savvy and make sizes other than the common 3.1-3.2" blade folders.

Don't worry, I'm sure the A.C.L.U. will step up and do something about this. Thank God it's not my State (sorry, Commonwealth). I'm glad nothing like that could happen in my State (sorry again, Commonwealth). Good thing R.E. Lee and JEB aren't around to see this!!! Next thing they'll be trying to impose gun laws, change state flags or something. What are we going to do when they ban the swatting of mosquitoes?

Thanks for the "Heads Up", Guy! I just sent a few e-mails off to my delegates, representatives, and Congressman in reference to this!

Ah Crap- more knuckleheads messing with us...
I was born & raised in VA & still spend a fair amount of time there & would hate to see this stupid law come into effect. AKTI anyone?!?! Good Luck-

Isn't VA filled with hard working people who are the salt of the earth? That was the impression I always had. Is there an urban crime problem or something?

Or is it just your close proximity to DC?

Texas has one of the more lenient (5 1/2" is legal to carry) and I'm hoping it will stay that way. But we're all just a couple of steps from this type of legislation, if we don't stay involved in local and state politics.

Barry, I'm sorry, but the ACLU is one of the most pathetic bunches of bass-turds when it comes to any sort of expression of self-defense or the legal possession of any sort of "tool" that may, in extreme circumstances, be used for such a reason. They'll see the word "weapon" in the proposed law and snap to the left fast enough that it would make the late Mr. Trotsky proud. They have toed the leftist line in regards to firearm possession and use, so I truly doubt they'll suddenly see the light when it comes to knives. The ACLU is extremely selective in their application of the word "liberty".

Geez, look at me, I'm starting to get all riled up.
