Virtual Knife Investor - want to play!

Heres the premise:

You have $5000.00 of imaginary money to spend.

You have until Midnight of the 25th August (in your time zone) to surf the internet dealers and "make a virtual purchase" of maximum 5 knives that are currently for sale on the dealers pages - best to leave it late so that no one can accuse you of choosing a knife already sold.

You must spend a minimum of $4600.00

Come back and post the dealers name, knife, and price. A link would be perfect.

The winner is the first person who has all the knives they chose sold for real by the dealer.

Its an honour system, but your competitors can check. Its up to you to keep checking and post when they are sold.

The winner gets bugger all except the kudos of winning and also the confidence in their own judgement.

Anyone game, or is just me that is slightly twisted?:D

What if duplicate entries? What's the rule?

If the duplicate entry is part of a number of knives then it is OK, but otherwise the first poster gets dibbs. i.e. If I post just Knife A at 5k, none else can have knife A. But I post Knife B, C,D then some one could have Knife B.C.E ..... but no one else can have the combo B,C,D! So no identical portfolios!

Clear as mud!:D:):)

Les Robertson has not updated his website since July 30. I suspect that I could pick out 5 currently listed knives that will disappear as soon as Les updates his site. I'll go with the Camerer, White and Ruth Bowies and the Havoc and Devastator folders by RJ Martin.

... thats Peter, always looking for the hook ;)

Hi Peter,

That damn Robertson.

If I ever get any knives from Matt, you could probably put those on there as well.

Lets not forget Lin Rhea, Mike Obenauf and Rick Hinderer.

Ok, enough of that.

Can I play...please, please, please.

I'll only pick knives on my web site (Severely limiting my Fantasy Draft).:D

Hi Keith,

That might be interesting, I don't really go to other sites. Except for Nordic. I have picked up (as have others) some real deals there.

Hi Roger,

My site is easy. I get a 50% discount from the makers, so I am sure to make money! :D LOL

Hi Roger,

It wasn't me. It's been a couple of months since I have been to that site.

Usually I go there right after Peter Gill gets something great then calls and tells me about it. LOL

in the meantime les has updated his website, but most of the knives you mentioned are still available. that's quite a surprise to me. does anybody have an explanation?

I think there were two sheephorn Ruths, one of which is sold. The RJ Martins, Les usually gets multiples of the same knife, so they could have come and gone a few times. The other possibility is that Les ran away for the labor day weekend and did a lousy job of updating his site.

Yeah, that's the one. Can't say I'm the least bit surprised. Congrats - great knife, great deal.

Roger
