Hey everyone, I've been recently thinking about purchasing a Vision (titainium handle) but have a few questions about the knife.

First, how has your Vision (x-ray or normal) held up under hard use situations? Did it bend, break, or have any problems with the ARC lock?

Second, I would like to pose a general question about the blade style of the Vision. What do tanto style blades have that others don't-what is the advantageous design behind the style?

Thanks in advance for suggestions/answers and happy trails.

Hi Oteyj,

I carried the Vision for about a year (liner lock version), until the Night Vision came out and replaced it on my pocket (which staying there daily for about 2 years).

I've found the materials and craftsmanship on these two knives simply oustanding. Some sill stand that the modified tanto blade reduced a cutting edge, but I've personally never said to myself: "Dang, this blade's all screwed up. I just can use it right because of its design."

This blade shape is designed for oustanding tip work (either piercing or close-up work).

After running the SOG's Warranty Department for over five years (and serveral departments at SOG, as well), I can say that the warranty issues on the Vision and Night Vision have been very minor! In my book, the knives are "bullet proof"!

NOTE: I used to get paid to say what SOG wanted me to day. Now, I get to say whatever I want to say regardless of SOG (since I'm no long employeed with them)....And I still said what I said above! :)

I own a mini x-ray vision and the action is smooth and nice but there is some play in the blade and it doesnt lock up too well. The blade itself has minor chipping, which has me a lil curious.

Thanks Ron, it sounds like you really like your Visions. One more question for you though: What compelled you to go for the Night Vision over the original? How do you like the G-10 handle compared to the titainium? Thanks in advance for a response.;)

For all to hear…I like them both…a lot! I do, though, like the G-10 a tad better. There is more grip because of its texturing and it has an aesthetical edge because of the contrasting colors.

Since I can probably not afford a Night Vision or a Titanium Vision I am probably going to have to settle for an X-Ray. I already own a Seal Pup and love the grip and feel of the zytel handle. For those of you who do own an X-Ray I pose the following questions:

1)How is the arc lock on a large blade like the Vision (I own a Sculptura and love the lock)

2)Is there any play in the blade whatsoever

3)Does the zytel handle have a good feel-and is it solidly machined

Hello All...

I just picked up a Vision for a really good price, and I am very happy with my purchase.

Normally I am a Spyderco guy, and this SOG is my first...

I am really digging both the shape and the finish...

Very nice....

Thanks I can't keep my hands off of this one.

:D

I just received my Vision today, and I am mighty impressed! Very sharp, built like a tank, extreme quality construction and futuristic/mechanical/scary looking. Worth every penny of the $126.00 I paid (can't say the same for a $300 small Sebenza I used to own).

The "tanto" edge is sharpened like the rest of the blade. Is this common, or do most Tanto's have an unsharpened point?

I have myself an X-ray vison and i will tell you that the tip may not be the most convenient to work with but it will work.
The arc lock will just not fail, i've tried. It functions as well as the first time i opened it and carried it 2 months EDC and as my work blade.
The arc lock is as solid as they come from my point of view and it is the only sog i own.

Edit: anyone else have a hell of a time trying to get the pin screws out?
That was the only pain about my X-ray.
