I'm not too sure just how to start this or what to say.
Some how the Khuks that I had ordered at different times arrived at the same time. I'm not disappointed in the least, but now which one do I call my first Khuk? Any way.

BAS and 15" AK are siting here looking at me like two more kids in the family. I know what I'm supposed to do with them I suppose, but they are so pretty that I hate to get them scratched up using them.

I'm almost as old as Uncle Bill and all that. Been almost all the way around the world with the Marine Corps, but I have never seen knives as beautiful as these. The workmanship that I see in these four knives is almost a wonder. I see why some one that really doesn't know would think they were chromed. I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Make ne wonder where the pride of workmanship in the US has gone to.

I will give ya'll a rundown when I get my nerve screwed up to go out and test these beauties. You gent on the forum sure never llied about these HI Khuks. Even at my age I think if I had to run from the house and not be able to come back for weapons I could grab either one of these blades and not feel a bit naked. Pappy.

P.S. I've even wiped a tear or two over these two like I'd just had another kid.

I don't know how you feel about it, Pappy, but I think a 15" AK would make a fine issue knife for the boys in the field.

They are pretty. But very functional. They were made for war. What do you think?

Great stuff, Pappy, and many thanks for sharing.

Semp, you're not the first Marine to say that.

While on R&R in Hong Kong former Marine Scout, RayC, tried to buy the khukuri off the belt of a Gorkha to take back to Nam. Of course, the Gorkha couldn't start selling off his gear while on duty so Ray had to go back without the khukuri but he swore he would get a khukuri before it was all over. He did -- 44 of them.

Yes sir, Issue of a Khuk like the AK would sure be something.
I don't know about you but I would sure have loved to be sportting one of those a couple of times with the wrong side all the way around your hole.
Didn't Chesty say once surrounded he had them right where he wanted them? They can't get away now.
Yes Sir, After seeing these two knives I sure would have loved one of these on my hip. That is an outstanding idea. I wonder how enough interest could be instilled in the right minds?

Semper Fi!!!
Pappy!

I'm not sure what BirGorkha would do if they got a government contract for a couple of hundred thousand khukuris. At the current production rate it would take about a hundred years.

Pappy,

I really enjoyed your review:)

Congrats on the new blades:) Aren't the 15" AKs great? Mine is one of my favorites, and the one I most often grab when I need to travel on foot any distance and need to bring a khuk:)

Lo Pappy, Can you just picture a squad of pissed off Marines out for blood with Khukries in hand:eek: Same feeling when I recieved my first Khukurie.I wished I had one in my travel's doing Mother' dirty work.[P.I. in 1963] Maybe should talk it up in the chat room over at the www.marinetimes.com,but then we would be waiting forever for the kamis to get to us.:)

Gentlemen, I finally got out with the new khuks yesterday afternoon. I don't think that I have ever used a hatchet of any kind that can compare with the AK and i'm not cutting the BAS either. It is in a different class of Khuk, fitting for military use.
The AK I used on a variety of fodder like some very dry and hard oak limbs, green white oak saplings, and red cedar dry and green. then I went to the pile that is waiting to be burned. there were some fairly solid 1" X 6" pine boards out there. I even managed to work it on some ash limbs.
I wish I was young enough to go to nepal and see how these blades are made. I spent the better part of the afternoon swinging one of the two Khuks and I didn't have to bother to sharpen either one of the two I have.
I trie one more type of wood before I quit. Some of you guys from Texas know what cutting Mesquite trees is like. almost impossible to get rid of and hard to cut. All I did last night was clean sap from the blades. Semp was right about the AK. It sure would make a fine issue knife for the Marine Corps or any other foot soldier fot that matter.
The BAS being a bit lighter would be my choice for a sustained hand to hand fight. It wouldn't be heavy enough to burn up the adrenalin rush.
With out going into great detail that most of you Khuk users know about that is my tail and I'm stick'in to it
