I dropped in to see Darrel and the gang today. There was some interesting items on hand to share.

The are some new items Darrel is working on related to the Meyerco designs.

Camo handled 18 X-Ray. These are look great.
Assembly has not started yet, but you get the idea.

Next: There will be a Meyerco Maxx. This is one of the prototypes.
There are some distinguishing characteristics between this and DDR's Madd Maxx.

I do not know how the blades will be marked yet, but I will get more pictures up once they are in production or if I get some shots of the pre-production proofs.

  • The scales are overlays that cradle into a very shallow machined depression. (custom Madd Maxxes have deep channels that the inlays fit within)
  • The blade fullers are narrower than the custom Madd Maxxes
  • The pivot pin has a milled spiral
  • The titanium slabs are a little thinner than the custom maxx
  • There are differences in the blade config at the pivot. I will get some shots of this in a week or two.
  • No jimping on the opening guard (customs often have jimping or "steps" in one or both guards.

Madd Maxx with a 7" Chad Nichols damascus blade. This is a blade style I posted awhile ago.
It is an the old bowie blade styling Darrel originally used on the Maxxes.
The clip is very gradual. Super pointy. This is a real nice piece. I think I must have one. It is dwarfing the Mayerco Maxx proto.

Another view showing the 3D filework on the inner edge of the slabs.

Here are some EDC's being made for TNK.
The top one is a flipper with S30V blade; the bottom is a talonite blade and will be a thumbstud manual only.
I believe the blades will be marked talonite; but don't quote me on that.
The inlays are not ready and I was not tipped off on what material they will be.
Contact Neil O at TNK if these are a must have for you.

Nice!! A perfect little Mini Maxx. I still think that these are aesthetically the nicest. Simple, a super clean look.

And, I picked up this Apogee D/A at blade. It is not as cool as the one Gus recently passed on to my care, but it is a nice one.
I dropped it off for some TLC. The previous owner scuffed up the front face side bolster somehow.

That 7" Mad Max is a beauty. Impressive knife!

Kind regards,

Jos

I too love those Minis. When are you going to send me your stag-handled one???

You may be in luck Aaron. It was reported yesterday that global temperatures have officially fallen by one degree. Hell will freeze over sooner that we think. ;)

The new production Maxx will be awesome. I kept looking at it during prototyping noticing some subtle differences; but never realized it will be the Meyerco Maxx. It is everything the customs are, but you get what you get cuz it is what it is... and it is excellent.

One of the most interesting aspects of haunting Darrel's shop is that there is always experimentation and creativity in the air and on the bench. I see a lot of things as they evolve and enjoy sharing what I can with the BF bros and sistahs.

I do hope y'all like it.

Additional info. The Meyerco Maxx 5.5" blade will have a 3D machined carbon fiber inlay as you see.
Also, they will be available assisted or manual.

It's always nice to get to see an Apogee. The Meyerco Maxx looks it's going to be a good knife.

The Meyerco Maxx is a tank. It is the real deal and will be an affordable alternative to a custom 5.5 Maxx.
I like the Apogee too Keith. I will take a shot of the pair of D/As together when the plain returns from the spa.

I hope they come out with a 4" Myerco Maxx. That would be perfect for me. I have a 3" Madd Maxx III, but it'll be a while before I can afford another custom DDR. And even when I can afford one, there's no telling if I could get my hands on a 4" Madd Maxx. Here's my Madd Maxx:

Cool pictures and some awesome knives. I really like the Madd Maxx with the Chad Nichols damascus blade.

Thanks,
Peter

nice. i'm gonna get a meyerco maxx and the new HK OTF-both are looking to be awesome

Love that Mini Maxx. Any more info regarding specs of it like handle length and blade length? Also, it looks like a liner lock (good for me), is that right? Pricing?

I want, I want, I want!

I want, I want, I want!

titanium FRAME lock, not liner

Here are some in process shots of the stelite TNK EDC's
Inlays are set, some minor finishing to go, the clips to be added and they will be all set to go.

There is a shot of one of the damascus linerlock 4.5" maxxes. I think this is Norris damascus. Blacklip pearl. Very nice!!

The assisted Trigger is a piece in process for Chelly. The blade will be 3" instead of the standard 3.5". I laid an old 3" radian blade next to the trigger blade for comparison. This one gets some special colors if I recall.

Last is one I ordered awhile ago. I had two old bullnose maxxes and let them go.
I will finally get a bullnosed maxx back into my collection.

I want! Are they a new thing? I don't see them on DDR's website.

Not so new. They have been around for awhile. You just don't see many come available, and when they do they go pretty fast.
Go here and at the bottom is link to click on to get more info or just call Darrel. His phone number is on the site.

Got any idea on what sizes the Myerco Maxx's will have? Also, any idea on when these will start production?
