Went to the surgeon today and had staples removed. G19G26 even helped with the staple removal.... Don't know why that nurse or I even let him do it! He actually did quite well! When the surgeon came in, he told me that mine was a rare type of ovarian cancer, and that only 1/3 of ladies have a recurrence. (Do I consider myself lucky for being in that 1/3?) Since there are not many studies on this type of cancer, he suggested that I go through 9 weeks of chemotherapy, after he refers me to an oncologist in my own city. However, he's not sure this doctor will want to do the chemo. I was so overwhelmed hearing the word "chemotherapy", I thought Chuck was going to have to carry me to the car. I go back to surgeon in Indy in October to see if I am healed enough to take the next step, then he will send me to the local doctor. Another game of hurry up & wait. At this time, I don't feel I have enough information to decide on chemo or not...but I feel it will be necessary. My surgeon said he couldn't guarantee that Chemo will ward off another recurrance...Again, making me unsure. I guess I will have to wait and talk to local doctor of his opinion.
Continued prayers requested & desired! Thanks, Busse family!

A girl needs a knife....

Don't get dicouraged, Barb. Fight your cancer and fight it hard. Be as aggressive as your doctors are willing to go. I'm pulling for good results and waiting for the post where you tell us you're cancer-free!

You are going on our church's prayer-line, and my family & I will keep you in our prayers as well. Thanks for keeping us posted.

"Again, making me unsure. I guess I will have to wait and talk to local doctor of his opinion."

Always get a second, third and forth etc ... opinion. See a specialists if possible. This game is for real and you need the best information you can get. Esp since this is a more unusual case. You only have a small bit of information and remember doctors are really only praticing medicine ......I would say your chances are actually quite good. How often does it rain when they say 30% chance? What are our odds out in traffic?

My wife is in kidney failure. They told her six years ago she would need a transplant in six months - again this was six years ago and she has not had one yet. They keep adjusting their forcast..... Sure she does not always feel the greatest and tires easily - but she is still able to have a full time job and runs a household of three boys (self included) with an IRON FIST!

Above all else - stay positive and fight! Live your life and enjoy what time anyone of us is given in this world. Positive outlook and prayers can do wonders!

May God be with you (and all of us)

Keep your chin up Barb. Smoke sent, and may you find peace and strength from within.

Hang in there Barb-B-Q. . .

I don't think Mr. Cancer knows who he bit into!!!. . . Between you, Chuck and all of your friends and family, he'll figure out real soon that he picked on the wrong lady and he'll get out and stay out!

We love you Barb! Hang in there girl, and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. . .
