We had the opportunity to meet with Auntie, Kanchhi, Pala, and Randy this past weekend, and suffice to say, we had a great time again.

Pala was home, but he wasn't feeling well, so he came out to say, "hi", but shortly returned to bed to rest. He had a very busy next day to prepare for his trip back home, so rest was imperative.

Here are some pics from our visit. Yes, I did say "hello" to auntie from all of the forumites who had asked me to do so. The macadamia chocolate nuts were great Bookie, yes, they shared a bit with us.

We had dinner at Peppermill Casino and Resort, it was actually quite good.

Auntie Kanchhi had promised my daughter Momo's for her next visit, after she comes back from Nepal.

Auntie is thinking of a Khukuri Konvention in Reno sometime next year, or after she finds a larger location, for a sunnier and roomier office.

Auntie had also gifted me a Ram Lal experimental piece, it 9.5" OAL, and has a little notch on the top of the blade, it was supposed to be used as a bottle opener! I may try it one day, and see if it needs a little modifying (it probably does). 20170108_220921_resized.jpg

I also picked up a Ram Lal Suga knife at 13.5" OAL, and it is double sided, the top swedge is sharpened all the way from the tip to the blade angle. It's awesome, I am sorry, it was supposed to go on the forum DOTD, but um, I was so distraught over losing the bid on Bawanna's mini spear vala, I had to console myself with this beauty! 20170108_220938_resized.jpg

I will post more pics of the knives later, and more specs, but I just got home, the direct highway from Reno was closed, so I had to take a roundabout way down the mountain, which added 3 hours to my normal 4 hour trip. We left at 11am, got home at 8.30pm, 45 minute stop for dinner though.

Always enjoy pictures of auntie and family. Everybody looks cold.

I like them leaning bowls on the table, never seen nothing like that before. Another thing I wish I'd invented.

Probably not great for soup but good for lots of other stuff.

We went to the Peppermill for the first time last trip, it was quite a place. Went on and on, we'll no doubt visit that one again if we hit Reno again.

It was raining cats and dogs! Hwy 80 and 50 were closed that night, so there was no way down the mountain. Hwy 50 opened up at 8am on Monday, so I made a run for it, and we made it home safely late last night.

The bowls are cool looking, but actually prefer a regular bowl, I find the tilting bowls a bit irritating when eating.

Peppermill is a great place, they got everything, and the Atlantis is right across the street. I prefer downtown though, more casinos, and I usually stay in the Eldorado, which connects to Circus Circus, and Silver Legacy. Harrah's is right across the street. I'm not much of a gambler anymore nowadays, but I prefer the hustle and bustle of downtown....yea, sick I know.

Yeah, we always wander through Eldorado and Circus Circus, I have more fun in the kids area than the casino's. Not sure we went into Harrah's yet or not and don't think we went to Atlantis, guess we'll have to check those out some time.

We always stay way out at the Grand Sierra, huge parking lot and we know our way around and it's real tall so we can find our way home when we're out and about.

Usually it's downtown or the rodeo grounds for us. Might drive down to Tahoe next time. Been to Virginia city each trip and always get a cowboy hat, got enough hats now I think.

The Grand Sierra used to be the MGM (with the Lion and all), ever since it was renovated, it's really nice, my daughter loves it there. My buddies stay there alot because they allow dogs to stay for an extra $20.

I was thinking we can start to plan a Konvention in Reno for either the Rodeo in June, or Hot August Nights (Hot rods, 50's 60's cars and music), or the BBQ Ribfest and cookoff over Labor Day Weekend.

If you plan on Tahoe, let me know, we may have our Townhouse by then. Trying to get a vacation home at Lakeland Village in South Lake Tahoe. The RE agent onsite is looking for a 3-4 bedroom townhome for us, supposed to go up in 3 weeks to view some properties. We won't be renting, just letting friends stay there, if we're not there, which will be pretty often. It's got a private beach, 2 clubhouses, 2 pools, and not to far from Stateline (Casinos).

Ok, more pics and info on the one knife that auntie gifted to me, and the Ram Lal's interpretation of the Suga Knife, which I had to just have.

Ram Lal is quite a talented kami, and from my understanding still quite young, which mean some very nice stuff coming in the future, and he has more room to grow in skill, now that is a scary thought!

BTW....With Pala returning to Nepal, we will soon be blessed with Purna's work again soon!

First the Ram Lal (Bottle Opener) khukuri - 9.75 inches and 6.2 oz

Exciting! Thanks for sharing more pictures.
Makes me wish I still lived in the "408"

Been a while but I used to go every year to the Riviera but I think its something else now? I remember going broke one year and having a fully paid round trip package I knew I could go broke and still get home. We pretty much went broke as said but luckily we could get them Circus Circus foot long hot dogs before the trip home without starving:) Last time I went there they were just finishing up the Luxor and had turned on the light atop the pyramid for the very first time. That was pretty cool as was the glass elevators. Bout time for another trip! Khukri Khonvention would be fun for sure! Count me in!

The Luxor is in Vegas brother, looks like it's been awhile since ya visited.

I did tell auntie "D" from Texas will most likely be there. I guess I was right!

Single Grind and I will have the East Coast Khonvention. Any other takers? Ray? J. W. B?

You know I'm in. I'll go out to Reno if I can afford it when the time comes.

I'll tap GB if we get one going out here. I'm sure he'd be in. Speaking of, I'm gonna hit him up and see how he's doing. It's been a while, last time I checked he was moving up to NH. Guess there's no internets up there or somethin? Maybe just too busy playing with all his guns :)

We enjoyed our visit with you and your family.
Great pix and post, thank you for sharing

I wonder if I could sweet talk the better half...
If I called it a vacation...

That's what we do. My wife and daughter actually can't wait to see auntie and the family, it's the highlight of any trip up to Reno.

For me, I like the drive up to Reno, and I like to gamble. I visit auntie to see how she is doing, and to see if she needs anything.

There is a ton of stuff to do in Reno, and South Lake Tahoe is only 45 minutes away on hwy 50. Rent a car from Reno, It's super cheap.

Usually, we just stay with auntie for a few hours, and call it a day. She's a gracious host, but I don't like to take up all her time, because she is so busy.
