Hey there. I am going to Nepal in the near future and was wondering if it would be possible for me to visit the shop while I'm there. Could someone, maybe Yangdu, let me know if this is an option? Thanks. -Lev

Whenever I read about things like the cultural revolution, or Maoists harassing folk in Nepal or Angkha's notoriety in Cambodia, I wonder if any of these people see any irony in using force to coerce their oppressed comrades to become "liberated". Whether they be imperialist or communist is unimportant... they're all just waving guns in people's faces. :thumbdn:

Thanks for the info, I guess visiting the shop is a no go. Anyone have any other sites to visit while I'm there? They can be kukri or non-kukri related.

The Maoist emergency is over. {at the time bieng.} They have senior positians in goverment nowadays. But some buisnesses in Nepal like thier privacy. {Same in USA I guess?}

If you want to see old weapons, I recomend in Kathmandu, The Nepal National museam, you can see more old top quality battle kukri & kora from 1650 onwards up till 1920s than anywhere else in the world.

I found it mind blowing & eye opening to see the realitys of what kukris were at what dates compared to the then innacurate info usualy available in the west.

Another building in the museam houses great sculptures.

When will you be there? & have you sorted out a place or places to stay yet? Guides etc?

What sort of things are you interested in? How long will you be there?

Just eat the meat,fish ,dhall bat & rice & advoid the fruit & salad even though it looks colourfull & delicious, unless your in a good western orientated hotel.

I am so very, very sorry but due to continuing political unrest in Nepal and for the safety not only of the craftsmen but also of visitors there is a No Visitors Policy at HI Shop. Thank you so very much for your inquiry. I hope you will enjoy your visit to my homeland.
