Hey Im gonna be going to Gatlinburg soon and I was wondering If someone could point me in the direction of some good shops to visit while im there. I was also wondering If there were any knife laws for in the city that I would need to be aware of. Thanks guys!

There is one in downtown called "The Acorn". Decent selection of knives, but priced high. You can find some uncommon pieces now and again. Best place is in post 1, and that's SMKW's in Pigeon Forge. Have fun!!:D:D:thumbup:

The Acorn used to be a much better store than it is now. Back in the late 70's and early 80's they carried almost nothing but knives, and they had a pretty wide selection. I was there again in 2005 and they mostly had cheap imported stuff, and they had a lot of stuff other than knives competing for shelf space.

I was in G-Burg a couple of weeks ago, "The Acorn" shop was closed for Remodeling. Probably gearing up for the Summer season. I will agree with what others have stated, when I was there a couple of years ago they had a few Randalls (way overpriced) and a few good Brands of pocket knives (limited selection) but that was all, everything else was Frost Cutlery - Sword of Dracula type stuff.

While on my way to Gatlinburg I had to stop at SMKW. I spent at least 2 hours viewing the Displays of old Knives, Literature, pictures, etc. Amazing amounts of Cutlery History housed there, including the NKCA section which is also large. A wonderful place to visit even if you buy nothing.

There is a BF Member that lives in or near Gatlinburg, perhaps he will show up and maybe give us some inside scoop on some other obscure knife shop.

We went to Gburg last year for a week and I went to SMKW three times while I was there and bought 5 knives. There's a lot of shops all around Gburg. Also - there's a salt and peppar shaker museum :)

You've got to go to the Village Bakery and get the sweet potato pancakes - AWESOME. There are a lot of great trails in the Smokies for all levels of skill. If you aren't into hiking there are plenty of driving trails around too.

There is also a Bass Pro shop not to far from Pigeon Forge. While you are in SMKW if you do enough hunting you can find a spyderco counter, a ZT counter, and a pretty decent Swiss army knife display. If you are interested in miniature golf then professor's golf (next to a hardy's I believe) has a great outdoor course and a lazer tag place (I believe the name is lazerport) down there has a pretty fun indoor black light course. Have fun :D
